English surnames: Plural Origins and Emigration
Doctors John and Richard Plant make a multi-faceted comparison of the frequency and distribution of English surnames. Consideration is given to the relative rareness and the overall population size of individual surnames. Monte Carlo population simulations and Y-DNA results are used and the graphics are quite good.
